March for Life – CL Endorser Speaks
One of the official speakers at the rally accompanying the annual March for Life in Washington D.C. for 2015 was the Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, head of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference and an Endorser of CL’s mission statement. The March is held on January 22 each year to commemorate and protest the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade. CL had its usual contingent in the March, small group discussion meeting afterward, and literature tables – more details to come next week. See our events page.

CL at Local Events
Since far more Americans cannot make it all the way to Washington D.C. than can, local events around the country are where most of the people are. CL supporters joined in, and two of them sent in photos. Below on the left is CL board member Lisa Stiller in rainy Portland, Oregon, and on the right is CL board member Mary Rider’s son Michael in sunny North Carolina.

Next Up: Austin Regional Conference, February 14
Online registration is available for our regional conference in Austin, Texas -- Saturday, February 14, from 9 to 5. Featured keynote speakers are Abby Johnson, former Planned Parenthood employee who’s now a pro-life activist, and Helen Prejean, author of Dead Man Walking, along with many exciting workshops.
In 1973, the year the Supreme Court, by its 7-to-2 decision in Roe v. Wade, struck down all state laws prohibiting or restricting abortion, the first college organization was formed in the abortion controversy: the National Youth Pro-Life Coalition at the University of Minnesota. It linked opposition to abortion and opposition to the Vietnam War. “The Coalition is deeply concerned that our contemporary society is not consistent in its respect for human life,” a student founder, Susan Hilgers, said in an interview.
